Welcome to the Michigan Rubber Group, Subdivision of The Rubber Division of The American Chemical Society. We have been serving the Rubber Industry in Michigan since 1978. We always welcome new members, and encourage our membership to be active in their participation.
The Michigan Rubber Group has a number of technical meetings and a Golf Outing fund-raiser and Salmon Fishing Outing fund-raiser every year. The group strongly supports the Rubber Technology Program in the College of Engineering Technology at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, by providing scholarships for students and opportunities to attend the Rubber Expo of the Rubber Division of The American Chemical Society every fall. 1st Guest Speaker:
Heather Maimone, MBA - Membership Director, Rubber Division, ACS

Heather Maimone joined Rubber Division, ACS in February 2011. She also works as Executive Assistant at Electric Impulse Communications part time. Prior to this, Heather was the Business Manager at Integrated Surgical Solutions, a subsidiary of Abbott Labs. She graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Business Administration and summa cum laude with an MBA at Kent State University. Heather is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, National Association of Professional Women and the Young Professionals Network. She also has over 5 years of experience managing an inbound and outbound call center and over 15 years of management experience. In April 2018 Heather was promoted to Membership Director. In this role, Heather develops, implements, manages, improves and leads the operations and procedures of Rubber Division Membership directly related to individuals, corporate, student chapters and associated scholarships. She directs activities involving recruitment and retention programs, current and future benefits and developing long-term strategies for targeting and increasing overall membership. She also works closely with the local rubber groups and affiliated technical organizations. Heather serves as the staff liaison to the Membership, 25-Year Club, Scholarship and Student Affairs Committees, and is a member of the Strategic Partnership Committee.

2nd Guest Speaker:
Nicole Neila - Training & Development Manager, Rubber Division, ACS

Nicole joined Rubber Division, ACS in January 2016. She received her Bachelors in Adult Education from The University of Akron in December 2011. She also attended Youngstown State University and was a college athlete. Nicole has been a women’s basketball coach for 10 years at Manchester High School where she was also a substitute teacher. She brings a varied background in education to her work at the Division and is an asset with the new outreach and training programs being developed. Nicole is responsible for facilitating and managing all on-site training, online courses, webinars and publications. In addition, she manages the Student Outreach Program that provides rubber education and tours to science classrooms in a 6-12 setting in hopes of expanding our industry and getting the younger generations interested. Nicole is the staff liaison to the Education and Publications Committee.

Erik LaBelle, Business Development Manager, 3M Company

Erik LaBelle has been employed by 3M Co. for 15 years and is the US automotive market business development manager for 3M’s Advance Materials Division. In this role, Erik is responsible for driving and coordinating the growth of several 3M product lines with automotive key accounts and OEMs. He has previous positions in application development engineering and technical service while working for 3M’s Automotive and Aerospace Solutions Divisions. He is vice president of the Detroit Rubber Group, a participant in other ACS Rubber Groups, and an active member in SPE Detroit Section. Erik has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Michigan–Dearborn.
